Brett Casna DVM, DACVS-SA

Dr. Casna is a proud New Hampshire native. He holds a B.S. in Biology from Keene State and a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from Virginia Tech. He then successfully completed several years of rigorous post-doctoral training in small animal medicine and surgery including a rotating internship in North Carolina and surgical internship and residency in Maryland. In 2023 he successfully passed the board exam and continues to exceed the requirements to maintain his status as a Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Surgeons.
Dr. Casna is an expert in all aspects of veterinary surgery. He is uniquely qualified to handle a wide range of orthopedic, neurologic, soft tissue and oncologic presentations. He has a special place in his heart for orthopedics. Beyond residency, he has maintained unwavering commitment to advanced training in total hip replacement, arthroscopy, minimally invasive fracture management, and correction of angular limb deformities to name a few. Dr. Casna was the 2022 recipient of the coveted Mark S. Bloomberg Award for excellence in orthopedic research. He continues to contribute to clinical research projects for the betterment of his patients and their families.
Dr. Casna has long envisioned returning to the beautiful Granite State to build a top tier, locally owned veterinary emergency and specialty referral center to add to the home-grown reputation that New Hampshire is famous for. Chelsea Casna DVM

Dr. Casna holds a Bachelor of Science in Animal Science from the University of Maryland and a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from the Virginia Maryland College of Veterinary Medicine. After spending several years in small animal general practice, she dedicated herself to small animal emergency care in 2020. She has extensive experience in general practice, urgent care and VECCS Certified emergency facilities. She is excited to join the beautiful community here in New Hampshire and help the local cats and dogs with all their emergent needs.
Tonya Brown DVM, DACVIM - Internal Medicine
Board Certified Veterinary Internist
Dr. Tonya Brown grew up on the Seacoast in southern Maine and attained her veterinary degree from the UW-Madison School of Veterinary Medicine. She completed a competitive small animal rotating internship at The Animal Medical Center in New York City. She then completed a coveted three-year Internal Medicine Residency at North Carolina State University. She passed her exams, had her publication accepted, and became Boarded in Small Animal Internal Medicine. She is honored to be the chair of the NHVMA Continuing Education committee for her 12th year.
Dr. Brown is passionate about diagnosing and managing complicated medical cases in cats and dogs. She specializes in all forms of endocrine disease, including diabetes mellitus, thyroid disease, Cushing's disease, and Addison's disease. She excels at managing patients with complicated multiple disease processes. Her areas of expertise include immune-mediated disease, gastro-intestinal diseases (inflammatory bowel disease), infectious diseases, hepatology, nephrology, and respiratory medicine. She is highly skilled at abdominal ultrasound, non-cardiogenic thoracic ultrasound, and all forms of endoscopy, including foreign body retrieval (gastric, esophageal, tracheal, nasal, urogenital), gastro-intestinal endoscopy, bronchoscopy, rhinoscopy, and cystoscopy. She is proficient at esophagostomy tube placement, joint taps, ultrasound-guided aspiration, and bone marrow sampling.
Heather Jones DVM, MS, DACVIM - Neurology
Board Certified Veterinary Neurologist
Board-certified veterinary neurologist Heather Jones is eager to be offering neurologic care at Granite VETS. Following her B.S. at Virginia Tech, Jones graduated at the top of her class at Cornell University school of Veterinary Medicine in 2008. She completed her internship at Tufts University and residency at Washington State University. After becoming boarded in 2012, Dr. Jones practiced Neurology in Virginia before moving to New Hampshire in 2014. Dr. Jones enjoys all aspects of Veterinary Neurology, especially managing her epileptic patients, treating inflammatory disorders, and spinal surgery to restore movement in paralyzed patients. Outside of the hospital, Dr. Jones enjoys spending time with her husband and three children, reading a good book by the pool, and occasionally riding a Disney rollercoaster.
Tom Jukier DVM, MS, DACVIM - Neurology
Board Certified Veterinary Neurologist
Dr. Jukier completed his neurology training at Washington State University. After becoming board certified in 2018, he assumed a role as an associate professor of neurology at Auburn University. At Auburn, Dr. Jukier trained numerous residents and interns and studied novel therapeutics for epilepsy. His deep knowledge of epilepsy and small animal brain and spinal cord disease make him an amazing addition to the Neurology Team at Granite VETS. He is excited for the cooler temperatures and great adventures New England has to offer.
Emily Viani DVM, DACVS-SA
Board Certified Veterinary Surgeon
Dr. Viani is a native of Concord, New Hampshire. She completed her BS in Biology at St. Lawrence University in NY followed by a DVM degree at St. George’s University School of Veterinary Medicine, completing her clinical year at Cornell University College of Veterinary Medicine and ranking at the top of her class. She returned to New England to complete an intense rotating internship at Angell Animal Medical Center in Boston. Following her rotating internship she completed a prestigious surgical internship at Gulf Coast Veterinary Specialists in Houston before returning once again for a highly coveted surgical residency at Angell. She successfully passed the rigorous surgical board exam in 2026 to achieve status as a Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Surgery.
Dr. Viani is thrilled to return home to New Hampshire and provide her beloved community with amazing, advanced surgical skills. She has a particular affinity for minimally-invasive surgery, which is what drew her to Granite VETS. She is an expert in all aspects of soft tissue, oncologic, reconstructive and orthopedic surgery.
